Chamber Selects the Birmingham Bloomfield Community Coalition as its Nonprofit Partner for June Golf Open

BIRMINGHAM, MICH., April 25, 2008 – The Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber has partnered with the Birmingham Bloomfield Community Coalition to present its 19th annual Golf Open on Monday, June 16, 2008 at the Birmingham Country Club.  The event will serve as a fundraiser for both organizations.

“This event will enable the Coalition to create relationships with the business community that will help make the Birmingham Bloomfield area a healthier place to raise our children,” according to Lisa Machesky, executive director of the Coalition.

The Birmingham Bloomfield Community Coalition is a nonprofit that is dedicated to preventing substance abuse in the Birmingham Bloomfield community.  Its nationally recognized youth programs support and promote the good choices most teens make by providing large-scale substance free activities for teens (i.e. band jams, movie nights, etc.) and providing leadership training and opportunities to promote the positive voice and presence of teens.

“We are delighted to give back to the future leaders in our community. A portion of the funds generated at this event will support youths to develop leadership, teamwork, and community service skills,” stated Carrie Zarotney, Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber president.

The event is open to the public and begins with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Event includes eighteen holes of golf, lunch, after-golf networking, strolling dinner and an award presentation. There will also be an opportunity to win two week-long passes to the PGA Championship held at Oakland Hills Country Club in August.

To register or to participate in a sponsorship opportunity, call the Chamber at (248) 644-1700.
